New Job Opportunities at Onside

Whatever role you have with Onside you will be helping to make a difference to the lives of people facing disadvantage.

Trustee Board members wanted!

Do you have the passion, commitment and leadership skills to join our Trustee Board?  We are looking to recruit additional Trustees to lead, guide and support our dynamic charity in to the next phase of its development.

Onside Independent Advocacy (“Onside”) is an established and well respected Worcester-based charity working across Worcestershire and Herefordshire. We provide advocacy and related services to ensure that the most vulnerable and disadvantaged people in our communities are treated fairly and have the support and help they need. 2018 marks our 25th anniversary and an increasingly challenging environment means our work has never been more important and our services more important.

Our core support is in the provision of trained advocates to assist disadvantaged individuals who are struggling to deal with today’s complex society. Their disadvantage may be through learning difficulties, mental illness, dementia or age related illness.

Some of our many current projects include:

·    Advocacy services in a range of residential care settings to ensure that residents’ voices are heard and listened to.

·    Statutory mental capacity and mental health advocacy.

·    Working with local GPs to provide support for those living with low level mental health issues.

·    Supporting local people living with early onset dementia.

·    We also operate a small café and two bookshops.

We currently have a very strong Trustee Board with a shared vison for the organisation and a total commitment to the ethos and values of Onside and its work.  If you share these values and a belief in social justice and equality then we would love to hear from you.   We are particularly keen to find new Trustees with some key skills which include marketing, finance and legal expertise but would be keen to hear from anyone who believes they may bring value to the Board and would like to support our work.

The Board meets about 6 times a year and, in addition to individual specialist roles, members act jointly to provide strategic oversight and leadership to the organisation.

For an informal chat about what we do and how Onside can offer a satisfying, challenging and worthwhile opportunity for potential Trustees please call:

Roger Aldridge, Chair, Board of Trustees on 07738 679706

Kate Harvey, Chief Executive on 01905 27525
