Celebrating 25 years

To celebrate 25 years of changing lives, we’ve set ourselves a little challenge! We are aiming to raise £25,000 over the next year, and we’d love your help!

The  money raised is vital to enable us to continue supporting the most vulnerable members of our community. We have already made a start with some fantastic events!

With your help we can provide vital support to some of the most vulnerable and isolated people in our communities who are not able to speak up for themselves, through our independent advocacy support.

With your help we can make sure that people facing injustice and without the means to get legal advice can have access to solicitors through our Access to Justice project.

With your help we can support another 10 people with learning difficulties to learn new skills in our Mix Cafe or Read and Ride bookshops. These are our innovative social enterprises helping to transform the lives of people who face disadvantage and raise money to support our other work.

Can you help?

Could you join our challenge and through your efforts literally transform someone's life.

What could you do? So far we have bake sales, sponsored bike rides, a Halloween quiz and a barn dance. Can you get your creative heads on, join friends, family or workmates or go solo, whatever works for you. It is up to you, you just need to complete the challenge between now and September 2019 and aim to raise as much as you can!

We would love you to join our challenge and we can't wait to hear from you with your idea and pledge. Our lovely Emma P will take your details and register you.

Your support would mean so much to us but more importantly it could mean the world to someone facing difficulties and in desperate need of support.

Thank you so much.

Aerobics-athon
To stay fit and healthy, organise an aerobics-athon or a Zumba-athon. It’ll make you feel good about supporting us.
Auction
Organise your own fundraising auction of promises by auctioning off your talents: cooking a meal, car washing, gardening, flower arranging etc.
Bake off!
One of the most popular fundraising events! Get your friends, colleagues, parish or group to bake cakes, pies & biscuits, and see who can produce the tastiest sponge. You could even auction what's left after the judges have done their tasting!
Beat the goalie
Challenge your friends to a beat the goalie competition. Pay to play.
Bike ride
Try pedalling for Onside with a sponsored bike ride! Set up a sponsorship page through Just Giving.
Bring and buy sale
Sell donated goods on a stall. Cakes, books, home-made jam, bric-a-brac and fairtrade goods are favourites.
Coffee morning
Organise a coffee morning – and you could combine it with a ‘bring and buy’ sale.
Colour theme day
Bring a bit of colour into your day and raise money at the same time! Get your friends to dress in their favourite colours for a donation. Set a football, season or country theme. Alternative is a ‘dress down’ day.
Film night
Create your own cinema and hold a film night for family and friends. Sell popcorn and drinks and charge an entry fee. Theme the night on your favourite type of film!
Face painting competition
Put your artistic talents to good use and paint people’s faces. You could have a themed face painting day such as animals or characters from a book. Charge for your works of face painting art.
Fashion show
Put your creative talents to the test and organise a fashion show – why not use recycled clothes and make it an eco-show? Invite the wider community to see your fabulous designs - don’t forget to charge an entry fee.
Fun run
A really popular fundraising idea - dust off your running shoes, add a green tutu and run for fun. Alternatively a marathon or half marathon will raise lots of cash.
Guess who the baby is (from photos)
Do a twist on the classic baby photo game by collecting some baby photos of famous celebrities and charging your friends to guess who they are.
Give it up!
Get sponsored to go without something. Give up speaking for a day, computer games for a week, chocolate or alcohol for a month.
Photo competitions
If you’re a budding photographer, hold a competition for interesting snaps. All entrants to pay a fee.
Plant Sale
For those with green fingers, sell your produce in a plant sale fundraising event
